For the past 23 years, Robert Weiss has been one of the premier practitioners of the art of scrimshaw. His work is in private and corporate collections around the world, and he is a Fellow of The American Society of Marine Artists. Bob has won the prestigious Rudolph J. Schaefer Maritime Heritage Award, the highest award given in the field of marine art, a record three times.
Since moving to the island of Hawai’i in 2006, Bob has been an ardent practitioner of En Plein Aire painting, the art of painting directly from nature 'in the open air’. Working alone and with The Plein Aire Artists of Hawai’i Island (PAAOHI), Bob has focused on painting the varied and stunning beauty of East Hawai’i.
